Topic: HazMat Inspection: PASSED! Posted: 01 February 2006 at 08:49 |
I can't believe it, I passed the HAZMAT inspection!
There are a couple of caveats;
1) If my quantities (of raw chemicals) change I have to have another inspection and I may need to upgrade my chemical locker (TBD).
2) Post all of my MSDS sheets on the outside of my chemical locker.
Other than that, the HazMat people will be back each year to check out my operation (and fire extinguishers) and give me their blessings.
I had to send the local Fire Department all of my MSDS sheets and write an overview of my operations (along with plans, etc.).
What a trip this has been! It's kind of a bummer, because now, I'm off to Vermont for two weeks. I wanted to open BEFORE I left. I can state with confidence that I will open in a couple of weeks!
Thanks for your support, encouragment and patience! I wouldn't wish this bueracrocy on anyone, but I think it's going to be worth it.

Awesome!
Congrats. A late birthday present!
I thought you might have to go with the "digital tintype kit" if it didn't work
out...

That's fantastic, well done! I sympathise, having to go through the UK University equivalent! Don't know about you, but to be honest, although it seemed tedious nitpicking, it's actually proved really useful to be 'au fait' with the official line, and has actually broadened my general understanding. do you find you look at all the rest of what people do in a different way (such as how we're all so casual at filling up on petrol, sorry, gas?!)
