Greetings,

As of March 27, 2013, I have two new books out. My Chemical Pictures (Ambrotype/Tintype) is the second revision, and the Chemical Pictures Negatives & Prints has never been offered publicly before now. They are being offered on Amazon around the world.

You can go here for more information or to order - thank you!

Quinn, I'm interested in learning how to do the glass negatives only. None of the other techniques (tintype, etc) really interest me except the glass negatives. Will any of your books will tech me:

  • The process (developing, how to print from a glass negative, etc.)
  • How to convert my 4x5 film holders for use with a glass negative (I know there are lots of instructions out there on the internet, but pictures would really help me to see the conversion process.)

Those are the two main things, at this moment, that I want to know, but I would also like to have a book that I can use later as a resource.

Which of your books would work for me? Thanks.

Hello Mario,

Thanks for your interest. I would encourage you to study the positive process first, it's important that you understand the process from that perspective. Is it absolutely necessary? No, it isn't. However, my books are setup that way.

My positive book goes into depth about the process, chemistry, etc. My negative/print book is a supplement to that (much smaller) only addressing the essentials for negatives and prints.

I'm happy to continue the dialogue if you'll email me - Q@studioQ.com

Thanks!

If you haven't purchased yet, these are on sale right now. I like to keep a collection of as many books/manuals on the process as I can so I finally bought the positive book.
Looking forward to this edition Quinn.
