Dear Collodion Colleagues,

My chemical supplier is offering me Ethyl alcohol at 99.5 percent
strength.
I've been using 95 percent strength up until now with fine results.
Does anyone foresee any changes in quality or potential problems, by
using the 99.5 percent alcohol?
(I have thought of using it primarily for getting colodion chemicals into
liquid form, where the miminum of water is best.)
Can anyone share any wisdom on this?

Also, anyone know where to buy a head brace for helping sitters be still
during portraits?

Thanks in advance,

Japan collodion

I believe that you will need to bring the % down to 95.  A certain amount of water is needed (yet, not too much) to allow a permeability to the collodion.  I think Sean M. had a post on this forum about this.
