Saturday, September 17, 2005

Greetings,

I know it's not much time to prepare or schedule, but I thought I'd throw this out there anyway.

I'm going to do a small (4 person max) wet plate workshop here in Riverdale, Utah on October 8th and 9th. Riverdale is located 30 minutes North of Salt Lake City. It will be held in my studio/darkroom.

There may be 2 or 3 people already coming, but I wanted to post this so if you have interest, you can contact me and let me know.

I'll cover the complete process as I know it and practice it. I would like to send everyone that attends home with a Wet Plate Chemistry Kit and glass (for quarter plates)  AltPhotoSource will provide kits (or individual, pre-made chemicals) to those that are interested in buying them.

Saturday October 8th: We will cover all of the basics, theory, technique and processes. We'll talk about equipment, chemistry, sources for supplies and do a whole bunch of Q&A. I'll do demonstrations on my portraiture work (I'll have a sitter here) and show my process, techniques and personalized style. You'll develop your own - this is simply to show how I work.

Begin: 9:00 AM
Lunch: 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM (we'll do this together)
End: 5:00 PM

Sunday October 9th:  We'll cut a ton of glass, pour gallons of Collodion and make mind-blowing plates all day long! We'll make Ambrotypes, Ferrotypes/Tintypes, Negatives and Albumen prints.

Begin: 9:00 AM
Lunch: 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM (we'll do this together)
End: 7:00 PM

You'll go home with instructions, recipes, source information, chemistry (if you want it), at least one decent plate and black hands.

The cost is $300 for both days. A $150 deposit is required to hold places. It's first come, first serve. When it's filled, I'll post it here.

THIS IS FULL - THANKS!

Regards,
Quinn Jacobson
