Hi all, has anyone used 'Petroleum Ether'?
I have only use Ethyl Ether before and was wondering if anyone used or heard about petroleum ether...

It's a nice unopened 1liter can just ready to be used. ACS Grade.

Thanks
Eric

Hello Eric,

I would NOT use this with Collodion. It's also known as Naphtha or naphthalene, and is distilled from petroleum refineries. In fact, I don't even know why they refer to it as "ether".

My wife was a safety engineer and was explaining the PNAs she tested for - this stuff. It's bad news when you get it on your skin, not so much breathing it (like ethyl ether).

Ciao,

Thanks for the info. I just read on a site that it's not really Ether.
