Topic: Yosemite Workshop Followup Posted: 17 April 2009 at 13:27 |
OK, excuse me while I play proud papa for a minute. My 14-year old daughter Sarah joined us for the first day and a half of the workshop. She got a hold of an old Box Brownie that I brought and started pouring. She has poured a few plates before, but not since last summer in Scotland. Here are a couple of hers from Yosemite. They are about 2"x3.5" on aluminum: She was also helpful in coaching students on pouring and developing techniques when I was busy with others. More pictures to follow...

I think you may have found the one who will continue family tradition. Great stuff, you should be proud. Robert

The day before the workshop we set up and made some portraits to test
the chemistry and my new Fotodiox light. Poor Sarah got stuck with the
funny looking model: 5x7 alumitype french plate camera, 7" Verito 12 sec f/4

Well, no. Despite what Zach told me on the phone, they are almost 2.75"
diameter at their max, not 2.4". I ended up staggering them with 27 watt
daylight bulbs from Home Depot and that worked out fine. I pretty
pleased with the skin tones. Here are a couple of the Ansel Adams
Gallery employees that gleefully sat for portraits: Evan (one funny dude!) 5x7 Alumitype Verito f/4 10 sec Christine 5x7 Alumitype Verito f/4 10 sec

BTW, Quinn, one day I hope our families will meet. I think Sarah and Summer would become fast friends.

That third portrait is my fav. It's not easy to get it all together with a Verito on wetplate, these sure look great.

I must admit to liking Sarah's plate of the funny looking dude - the jaunty angle and the peering over the glasses - nice one Sarah! Award youself your own account and get pouring and posting :)
