Greetings,

I would like to introduce you to Dimitri. He just did a workshop with me over the weekend and did an amazing job for his first time with wet plate Collodion. Dimitri is from Antwerp, Belgium and drove down Saturday for the workshop.

In between making plates, we talked about the beginning stages of a European Collodion movement/community. It's beginning to take hold here as it did a few years ago in the states. There are no re-enactors here, so Collodion is finding its home with traditional fine art photographers and even other types of artists. So, for those of you reading this that are European, stay posted, we are in the beginning stages of forming a community here for wet plate artists.

Again, welcome Dimitri! (A self-portrait belowl; first plate he ever poured, developed and varnished - it was perfect!)

All credits go to Quinn!! He's such an inspiring teacher and without any doubt somebody who masters the process like few other. It's not that hard to create a first plate when Quinn is by your side! I was in very very good hands!

I really had a wonderful time and learnt so much
I also strongly believe creating a European wet plate community will be a very valuable project, so I'll help where I can. Although I only had a taste of this wonderful process, I already know I'll be experimenting a lot in near future.

Again, Quinn is the best out there! People fly over from Russia to have a workshop at his place in Germany! It perfectly illustrates what I just said.

Our views/opinions regarding the future of photography (in the long run it will be or digital, or old processes, everything inbetween will slowly disappear as photographers don't want to depend any longer on supply from manufacturers like Kodak, Polaroid, Ilford or Agfa. We all know these companies are in a bad financial situation...) are similar.

Keep up the marvelleous work Quinn! All the best!

Quinn, your bringing' collodion photography back to the motherland!

I guess that’s what Americans do best...making things fun again.

Nice collodion Sir. Bringing it to Scotland? I'm interested.
