OK guys....here goes...

**Disclaimer** This is in no way to compete with John's jamboree. Im trying to figure out a way for me to get to his place, but things keep getting in the way...time, gas $, work, family, etc....so, I thought Id offer up my place as an additional location/time for folks to gather.

Maybe John could come down south....if anyone is coming from that area, maybe they could pick him up.

WHEN:
Weekend of October 25

WHERE:
North Carolina (27568 zip code) *Directions Posted at a later time*
W/in 5 miles of hotels, shopping,restaraunts, etc.
We have about 7-8 acres to play on.  There are also several locations close by if we want to hit the road.

WHY:
Why not? With the cost of gas, limited amount of time on my hands, and the desire to hang out with other wetplaters, Im offering my place up for a gathering.

Folks can arrive whenever the week of the event, but Ill be taking off work Thursday , Friday, and the following Monday to be at the house.  folks can camp if they'd like.

Im working on seeing if I can get the winery (my neighbor) to let us host an art show in their reception area. if that gets the OK, then Id ask you guys to either ship or bring some pieces to show/sell. It will be a one night opening/show/sell/reception on Saturday night.
*If you guys dont want to do that, let me know and Ill stop the process.

Ill arrange some porta-pottys. Ill have a grill or to for folks to cook on if you want. Ill have a large tent or 2 (10X20) for enclosed space if it rains or for sleeping in if needed.

email me off the forum to let me know you are interested in coming. Ill keep track of the numbers and will update how things are going.

Im looking forward to this!

Here is more info on the get-together:

I have someone willing to pick up and deliver folks from and to the airport if folks want to fly in (without chemicals of course).

Closest major airport is Raleigh-Durham International (RDU)...about 45 minutes out. If folks could try to schedule arriving and leaving on the same days would help of course.

If you want to ship equipment to me and fly in, no problem.

I also have several models that are willing to spend the day or 2 with us and do some posing. I thought Id get some brides, some goth girls, pinups, whatever I could get to offer some alternatives to the standard items around the area (farm and vineyards).

If anyone has any questions, let me know!

chris

OK guys....time for an update.  Ive been busy with work, on vacation...sick while on vacation.....so its been a rough couple of weeks for me....but Im getting there!

The Jamboree is a go for OCTOBER 24, 25, 26.

The Jamboree is open to those shooting wet-plate.

As most folks would agree, if you havent shot wet-plate, do not have the equipment/chemicals/other stuff you need procured yet...a jamboree setting probably isnt the best place to get your "fix" of wet-plate.

If you have been shooting wet-plate for 2 weeks or 2 decades...you are welcome to come.

Fine art and historically based work are both welcome.

Folks can start arriving Thursday October 23 if you need to.  Folks can stay as long as you'd like, but Im having to go back to work on Tuesday (taking Friday and Monday off).

If you are flying in, you need to fly in to RDU...let me know if you need someone to pick you up.  RDU is about 45 minutes out.

I need to know how you guys want to sleep....hotel or camp.  I have a wall tent that can hold about 8 folks, and a modern tent that folks can use.  If you guys want to stay in the local hotel, Ill need to arrange a discounted rate....Ill need to know that ASAP.  I need 5 rooms to get a "discount that is worth it".

My dad is gonna cook a couple of pig shoulders and a turkey or 2 for us on Saturday.  If you guys would prefer lamb..thats an option as well.  For other meals, you can bring yourself something or we can order some pizza or something from the local eatery.

I hope to be shooting most of the day, chatting about issues, ideas, etc....not eating all day!

Ive been working on getting some models lined up.  I need an idea as to the number we may need.  Im thinking 3 girls and a guy or 2....mixed styles.  Ive gotten permission to shoot at a location close by that is pretty interesting alone, and would make a great backdrop for some model shots.  Its an old grainery...lots of steel and rust.  Its about 2 minutes from the house by car.....I figure if we could get a couple of folks with portable darkrooms to show up the trek wouldnt be that bad.

I have no set agenda at this time....and would love to hear what you guys would like to cover so if you have any ideas, fire them to me.

Please email me if you are thinking of coming so I can make arrangements.  *Need to get a porta-potty or 2...cause you know most wet-platers are full of it!

Lets see a show of hands as to who is coming!
